Cookies

What is stored on your device, why, for how long, and how to change it.

Last updated

This site sets very little of its own. Most of what follows belongs to the advertising that funds it, and none of that is set until you have been asked.

Strictly necessary

Consent choice
Records what you chose when asked about advertising cookies, so you are not asked again on every page. Set by the consent manager. Kept for up to 13 months.
Locale suggestion dismissal
Records that you closed the "read this in another language" prompt, so it stops appearing. Kept for 12 months.

On your device only

Recent checks
Your last ten calculations, stored in your browser's local storage so the tool can show them again. This never leaves your device and is not a cookie. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Advertising

Where you consent, Google and its partners set cookies to measure and personalise advertising. These are third-party cookies: they are set by Google, not by us, and we cannot read them. Their purposes, names and lifetimes are Google's to document — see how Google uses information from sites that use its services .

If you decline, advertising still appears but is not personalised, and no advertising cookie is set for that purpose.

Analytics

Our analytics sets no cookies at all and builds no cross-site profile. There is nothing here to opt out of.

Changing your choice

Readers in the EEA and the UK can reopen the consent manager at any time and change what they allow.

Before launch: wire the button below to the consent manager's reopen call. A cookies page that cannot actually reopen the manager is a dead end, and it is the first thing a careful reviewer clicks.

Blocking cookies yourself

Every browser can block or delete cookies from its settings. Blocking third-party cookies will not stop this site working — the tools do not rely on them.
